Every week until market, we’ll tease and hopefully please with a smattering of what you will see in High Point this Spring.

This week’s feature is inspiration from Sue Rapp Creative and Lifestyle Directory for Urban LifeStyle Desor, with our Bohemian Chic offering. Quirky, out there, young and hip. This is the art your mom warned you about (to pinch a line from Sue).

Map of Delft, Holland set of 25 plates, can be acquired either individually or as a complete set each framed piece measuring 20″ x 24″, (the entire set measures 8 ft. x 11 ft., and makes for an impressive wall. The frame is hand burnished wood to an Aubergine finish. The original map dates back to the 18th Century and although large collection maps are in abundance for the cities of Paris and Rome, we’ve never seen this before! More Bohemian Chic funky textiles.

19th Century ribbons from a Masion Parisien in Patina Copper finish frame. This is actually a giclee print! The resolution is off the charts sharp and hard to distinguish from the original. The collection was found at the Marche au Puces in Paris last year. The large hand-bound book contained about 80 pages from what looks to be a sales sheaf for one of the fabirc houses in Paris around the turn of the century. This work is part of a set of 4 in this size. We’ll have the originals on display and for sale in the Showroom.

What is it? It’s a printing technique called FerroGraph. We’ve printed this poppy on a sheet of 1/8″ aluminum with a special glazing treatment on the surface. You must see this in person to appreciate the amazingly luminous surface. The swirls you see on the surface are deeply etched into the aluminum with a burnishing technique we employ before we print. We’re still working out the framing concept as we really don’t want anything to detract from the image and surface. That’s why its on the floor along side our great sculpture by John Krawzyk. We’re proud of this new technology and excited to share it with you. One more teaser for you below…

Ed & Jen Working Out A Few Artistic Differences

Market starts tomorrow and what can we say…we survived the rush of both sampling and setup, and nobody got hurt. Ok…maybe a few bumps and bruises along the way. But we do it because we love it!

Something unexpected is always bound to happen during pre-market setup. And this market was no exception. Ed and Jen arrived at the Soicher Marin showroom earlier this week, prepared to find the new collections unpacked and ready to hang…A lengthy task of its own. Needless to say, our un-packing crew never arrived and every box sat there full. No choice. Ed and Jen manned up, started unpacking and got the job done.

Like Ed says, “This stuff doesn’t hang itself.”

I think you’ll all be impressed. We’ll let them both take a day off after Market.
