Meet John A. Kaywell

John Kaywell is truly one of a kind. I’ve known John for nearly 15 years but when I first met him, his life was quite different. He was single,  living in Valley Village, California and working in Glendale as a heavy-weight “broker to the stars” at Smith Barney. He also swung a mean Stratocaster guitar, playing everything from Clapton to Cole Porter. 10 years, 3000 miles, a wife, an adorable son, AND what seems like a lifetime later, “Jake” as his friends affectionately call him, hung up his traders hat and donned a painters smock. Today he lives in Palm Beach, Florida, paints full time, STILL swings a mean “ax” and is preparing his coming out party as an extraordinary artist. For all his natural talent, John is an assiduous student of his craft: a sponge absorbing whatever tidbits those in the know may impart. We’re lucky at Soicher Marin to welcome John into our family of artists. Look for his prints at this coming High Point Market in April. Prices for original paintings are available upon request.

Soicher Marin - Behind The Scenes At High Point Market

Monday, April 27th, 2009
Ed & Jen Working Out A Few Artistic Differences

Ed & Jen Working Out A Few Artistic Differences

Market starts tomorrow and what can we say…we survived the rush of both sampling and setup, and nobody got hurt. Ok…maybe a few bumps and bruises along the way. But we do it because we love it!

Something unexpected is always bound to happen during pre-market setup. And this market was no exception. Ed and Jen arrived at the Soicher Marin showroom earlier this week, prepared to find the new collections unpacked and ready to hang…A lengthy task of its own. Needless to say, our un-packing crew never arrived and every box sat there full. No choice. Ed and Jen manned up, started unpacking and got the job done.

Like Ed says, “This stuff doesn’t hang itself.”

I think you’ll all be impressed. We’ll let them both take a day off after Market.

Check back for more market updates, showroom photos and behind the scenes looks at Soicher Marin. And if your attending High Point Market stop by and visit us at IHFC | G265.

The Mariette Himes Gomez Collection for Spring ‘09

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

This spring we introduce more incredible photography from Mariette Himes Gomez, of Gomez Associates. In addition to being a highly renowned interior designer, book publisher, and designer of her own signature line of furniture for Hickory Chair, Mariette has an exceptional eye for the camera.mhg-001

Mariette has a passion for architectural detail and it shows in many of her works. Scale is important to Mariette and like the previews shown many of the new works in her collection are 40x 40, or larger.

Known for her high style and refined simplicity, Mariette makes even the boldest geometric patterns pleasing to the eye. These vertical stripes in cream and brown blend equally well with contemporary and traditional furnishings.mhg-002

As you can see here, Mariette has the ability to turn everyday scenes into virtual daydreams.

Come see the new Mariette Himes Gomez collection at the Soicher-Marin showroom, High Point / IHFC-G265, or view the entire collection at www.soicher-marin.com.
