When Ed is away, who does he leave in charge of the place? Daisy of course! She had a busy week in the office.

6 Paws of Seperation

daisy-paws-2

I’m as devastated as a fur baby can be over the recent death of mom’s favorite pop icon Michael Jackson. I’ve been lucky to have been part of many 1980’s theme parties where I have performed my now-famous “Thriller” dance for the amusement of many. In the past week, more than 1 million people have downloaded MJ’s music- another record. (Regrettably there is no better marketing campaign than death if you’re an Icon.) Here are some fun-facts you may not know about MJ. You will see that in some way he has touched us all.

1. He had sold more than 750 MILLION records world wide.
2. He had 13 Grammy awards.
3. He donated more than 300 million dollars. Helping over 37 Charities.
4. He donated and raised millions of dollars through his “Heal the World Foundation”.
Last week my mom and I were getting our nails done. The woman next to my mom was on the telephone with a TV News personality discussing the death of MJ (This is LA, so of course we were eves-dropping.) According to this unknown woman and her unknown TV correspondent, MJ had been deceased for over an hour before the 911 call was made. Mom discussed this Tracy who had even better gossip! Turns out Tracy’s BF was in banking and had met Dr. Tohme Tohme (MJ’s manager since 2005, who had no background in managing recording artists)- According to unnamed sources, he appeared very intimidating!! He had a trophy wife that seemed just as terrified of him (she would accompany him to the bank) where much activity ensued.

So as you can see, all this leads back to me (yes: it’s always about me)! Who knew I was such a big deal?! Here we go:

I’m Back!!!

dsc01341-copy I’m back from a long vacation and I wanted to tell you guys about going to my very first hockey game! I never knew how much fun I could have being at a professional hockey game. At first I was a tiny bit skeptical about the whole idea, the gigantic, cold arena, the roughness of the game itself and the roar of the crowd, but I knew that Mom was going to be there so I tried to keep on my tough puppy face. I have heard they usually do not allow doggies to come into the games but I have special papers Mom carries (a Service Dog Certificate) allowing me access to pretty much anywhere, any time, can you say “high-roller treatment” baby! You see, I am not just your average pup, duh.
My goodness, the sport of ice hockey is truly an exciting sport to watch up close. In the split second it took me to blink, I had missed like a dozen or so different plays. I am not really sure on what the rules of the game are but when I noticed Mom giving out a holler when something exciting happened, I would back her up with my own high pitched howl, love that. Whenever the players hit each other against the boards I would get nervous because I don’t condone violence, so instead I just cover my eyes. Ohh, I almost forgot to tell you, I nearly got my paws on a deliciously fat hotdog but my chances at indulgence were foiled when Mom noticed my attention drifting away from the game to the stranger’s lap next to us…I think I like this game.

Idol Chatter…the FINALE!!

daisy-2

I got to watch the Finale of “American Idol” with Albert my Man-ny (Don’t tell my mom but we had an “Idol Party”)! What is great about Albert’s parties is that his friends like to yell at the television at something other than sports. They all bring great food, and I get lots of kisses! I was on pins and needles this week hoping that my boy Adam Lambert would win. Albert cooked roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and carrots, I got to sit on his lap the entire time…it was a great night!

The finale show was non-stop entertainment! They had everyone you can think of on the show from Keith Urban to Kiss and each performance was better than the last!  They even brought back “Bikini Girl”! “Bikini Girl” looked like she had been triple dipped in tanning lotion (and obviously she got “the girls” done for the finale.) When Kara came on stage and started singing over her and then ripped off her dress to revel a better bikini body than “Bikini Girl” I laughed so hard I peed a little! Kris seemed to be in as much shock as I was that he won. Even though Adam didn’t win he is still my Idol!
Everyone have a great long weekend… I am hitting the beach and the dog park!  T.T.F.N   DZ

No Recession Palette Please

Friday, May 8th, 2009

img_0430-copyBeing the “Fur-Baby” of a mom in the Home Fashion Industry has its advantages like: she reads to me from  magazines while sitting on her lap! Yesterday we read an article on “Economy Conscious Colors”. The color palette selected by the “Color Council” reminds me of the personalities of some dogs I know. Rex the pit-bull who is my arch nemesis in the neighborhood represents the Mr. “play it safe” depressing neutral tones, my B.F.F, Chiva a sassy Pomeranian, is more the upbeat exotic, Bentley my little brother’s personality would resemble bright, radical, fearless colors and my boyfriend Boxer a chocolate lab would be the green (hunky) nature inspired colors! What color is your Puppy? I’m a bright colored girl: I love PINK!!!

Enough about color. Did anyone see the finale of “The Real Housewives of New York” this week? This show is one of my guilty pleasures…It is so bad it’s good. The biggest train wreck was Simon. Someone needs to tell Simon he is not a HOUSEWIFE. Those pants were horrific- I know they dropped the name “Burberry” more than few times … maybe his socks were Burberry! At the end when he was dancing with Ramona I have to tell you I puked a little in my mouth! Ramona needs to back away from the Botox, can she even close her eyes? Kelly OMG she is a “Hot Mess” beautiful but as my Uncle Ed would say “there’s no there, there“. If you’re thinking of selling to Zarin Fabrics…. don’t bother. Jill Zarin may be dropping $16k on a purse but I checked Zarin’s Lyon’s rating: hmmmm…Bethany needs to run to her therapists office and book a double session ASAP. The Countess…. I like her she always tries to stay neutral and out of the back stabbing (although her kids seem to kill a lot of the family pets, so I don’t think I would want to be adopted by her.) Alex, a book on parenting? Are you kidding me? I can’t wait for the two-part sit-down next week! BTW: Suzanne Kasler’s lawyers are drafting up an adoption agreement for my review. Mom’s not too happy with me about all that. More next time. -T.T.F.N.

If I Was Adopted by Suzanne Kasler by Daisy Balest.

Friday, April 17th, 2009

daisy11My Mom has been getting ready for High Point and I have barely seen her. I have not been bathed in 4 days! I am considering submitting an Adoption Application to Suzanne Kasler. I heard that she was looking for an adorable well mannered Yorkie with no potty issues. I feel Suzanne and I share a similar pedigree. Her sense of style and taste most reflects my own. I know we would be very happy together. I could learn many things from her…. I have always wanted to be a “Southern Belle” in fact “Steel Magnolias” is a close second to “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” as one of my favorite movies. Suzanne has a fab-u-lous new home I can see us together on the veranda drinking mint juleps… watching the sun set. I know she would instantly upgrade my pearl dog collar and buy me cashmere. I hear she is a great cook and makes an incredible boiled chicken breast….I have enclosed a few pic’s for Suzanne to see what it would be like to live with me….

Bad Hair Day

Friday, April 10th, 2009

dsc00906 I just could not get it together today AND my regular groomer is out of town (why?)! AND Jenn is not feeling well, AND I have no one but my bratty little brother to play with AND its overcast outside! I am on the phone trying to line up adoption into Suzanne Kasler’s family, I’ve seen the pictures and it looks very good in Atlanta. I’m sure she knows how to treat a puppy to the lifestyle she has grown accustomed to. Stay tuned.  -T.T.F.N.

Daisy’s TiVo List

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

daisytivo2 I don’t know about you but after a long day of squirrel chasing and personal grooming, I’m tired and all I want to do is veg in front of my television. So with that in mind, I want to share my fave’s with you. Here’s what’s on my TiVo along with my ratings (1-5 Paws): Millionaire Matchmaker (3 Paws). Patty had a breast reduction this season. It turns out she packed on 25 lbs. during the shooting of the last season! My advice: you’re making good money now honey and eatin’ well. You just go on a pork out if you want!  BTW: Dr. 90210 did her surgery! I guess they keep it in the reality show family that way? The Real Housewives of New York (5 Paws) Theirs is the kind of life I can get used to, except without Alex’s gross husband! They lounge in the Hamptons, drop thousands on shopping sprees, try to one-up each other on the charity circuit, and gossip relentlessly while backstabbing. Yeah puppy! Running in Heels (4 Paws) Think of this as a weekly version of The Devil Wears Prada. I love it because it helps me heal my withdrawals from the end of Project Runway. Three interns (Ashley, Samantha and Talita) work at Marie Claire Magazine. They gossip, have lots of drama and oh lots of fashion! What else could a puppy ask for?

And now my 1 Paws list: Programming for a lady to avoid.

Bad Girls Club, yuck! America’s Next Top Model, a.k.a. The Tyra Banks Self Promotion Hour, and the worst: The Dog Whisperer! Caeser Millan you should just stay away from me and my friends with your funny moustache and that silly “shsh” sound you make. I’d leave the puppies alone and concentrate on wearing less eye liner and trying to make myself look taller.  -T.T.F.N.

Idol Chatter

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

woof3Who watched American Idol this week? Are you kidding me? I love it this season: everyone is so good looking and talented! My manny, Albert (male-nanny) was taking care of me last night and we watched it together while Jenn was out getting her hair done.  Albert is even more Idol-crazy than I am, (although he spent half the show on the phone with his boyfriend gossiping about the performances).

Dinner was a simple affair (I don’t cook), Albert prepared rotisserie chicken, new potatoes and kale and we dined as we watched the special two-hour Motown Idol together! Smokey Robinson looked fantastic at 70. He’s had work done of course, but the good kind, not the Joan Rivers look like a corpse-eyes shrunk in-permanent smile-open my mouth when I cross my legs kind,  if you get my drift. The show was a touch too much Vegas for my taste, but it had a few standouts moments- Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert!!!  My prediction for top four this round? Allison, Danny, Adam & Matt!

That’s all for now, oh, except for everyone making such a big deal of Octo-Mom (I don’t get what all the fuss is about a litter of 8! I have girfriends that do it all the time, AND pay their own vet bills)

Next week? Oh yeah: What’s on my TiVo.   -T.T.F.N.
